Check here for background on the lawsuits filed by the attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia against President Trump, then click here for an analysis of whether the suits have legal standing, and finally click here for an analysis of whether they violate the Political Question doctrine (warning: the latter link contains some partisan bias).

Be patient…

Over the next month or so, I’ll be laboring to get the main features of this site up and running.  I expect it to contain a multi-part primer on the impeachment process, with particular sections devoted to issues such as the basic procedures of impeachment, the differences between presidential and judicial impeachment, the meaning of the critical phrase “high Crimes and Misdemeanors,” whether a president can be impeached for conduct that occurred before he took office, for lying to Congress or to the public more broadly, the intersection of impeachment and the emoluments clauses, etc.

The site will include a comprehensive list of historical and scholarly sources on impeachment.  It will also collect the most interesting and provocative commentary in the popular media.

Finally, I hope to comment regularly on how breaking news impacts the case for impeaching Mr. Trump. So please stay tuned.

Donald J. Trump won the 2016 election and is entitled to an uninterrupted tenure of office unless he dies, is removed for incapacity under the 25th Amendment, or is impeached for committing “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”  This site offers source materials on impeachment and analysis of arguments for and against impeaching Mr. Trump.
