This article reports on the backlash President Trump has received from Ann Coulter following his recent move away from a harsh immigration policy. Comments like Ann Coulter’s “who DOESN’T want Trump impeached?” may seem like litte more than trash talk, but they could represent declining support from the President’s base.

This opinion piece, written Robert Kagan, explores the idea of a congressional take-over of executive power to create a so called congressional government. To defend the merits of this concept, Kagan points to historical instances of congressional take-overs, as well as modern examples, such as the Russian Sanctions. This sort of action may be at least as concievable as impeachment, as it would require less congressional support.

Congress, debt ceiling, political question

Can Trump make enough enemies in Congress to get impeached? This article suggests that with every crticism President Trump makes towards Republican legislators the higher his impeachment chances become; a recent relevant example being his siding with Democrats on the debt ceiling issue. It is true that impeachment is a political question, meaning that it is left to the discretion of the elected. As such, President Trump’s chances of impeachment very well may ride on his political usefulness.

2018 midterms, political question, The House of Representatives

This newsweek article quotes John Podhoretz, who theorizes that if the Democrats take the House in 2018 then President Trump will be impeached. However there seems to be very little consideration for Trump’s high crimes in his analysis, which leaves one wondering whether the Political Question the Drafters intended to guide impeachment, hasn’t turned into a measure of Political Might.
